MOISTURIZE LIPS - Just because they go on as a liquid doesn’t mean you can get away without using a balm or lip conditioner. You must ALWAYS condition lips before adding pigment, and do it 10 minutes before so it has time to properly sink into you lips.
PRIME LIPS WITH LINER OR CONCEALER (OPTIONAL) – If you are going for a more polished look, you’ll want to use a lip liner because liquids don’t outline well – even with the best doe-foot applicator.
Filling in the rest of your lips with liner or dabbing concealer over the entire surface is optional, but I'd recommend it as a layer of insurance if you want your color to last. By filling it in with color or concealer, you give your liquid matte formula something to grab onto. Concealer also neutralises skin tones so the color pops even more.
APPLY LIQUID MATTE LIPSTICK – Then, it’s just a matter of painting your lips with the liquid matte colour and if necessary clean the edges with a Q-tip or concealer.
